Microsoft Tag Hopes To Simplify Your Mobile Phone

Microsoft is working on a technology called “Tag” that lets you to quickly grab a website, contact or other information with your phone.

Here’s how it works—just take a picture of the Tag with your phone’s camera and your phone will ask you what to do with the information. If it’s a website, it opens the web browser. If it’s contact information, it can dial the phone or add it to your address book. This promises to be very handy when you’re on the go.

Microsoft is currently testing the technology along with a tool that converts information into its new Tag format. It should work with most camera phones with internet access.tag

The picture at left is a tag with Attainity’s web address embedded inside.
